Paris Coproduction Village

EDITORIAL

paris_coproduction_village-1024x1020Each year, in June, the teams of Les Arcs European Film Festival come down from the Savoy’s mountains and partner with the Champs-Élysées Film Festival to organize the Paris Coproduction Village. In simply four years, our event has become an unmissable event for French professionals : producers, distributors, international sellers…

From June 20th to the 22nd, twelve feature film projects from all over the world, plus six projects from the Cannes Festival residents of the Cinéfondation will be proposed to the French and European professionals. Our goal is, more than ever, to promote the emergence of new talented filmmakers, and to allow them to meet French partners, France being one of the major country for funding and distribution of the international auteur cinema.

This year, we honor for the first time an Asian country, namely Taiwan. In France, we are mostly familiar with the 90s generation of Taiwanese filmmakers: Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Tsai Ming-liang and Edward Yang. However, new faces have surfaced and we are committed to highlight three projects coming from this new generation of Taiwanese directors.

As part of the Champs-Élysées Film Festival’s Industry Week, the programme will allow to couple projects at various stages of completion, between the US in Progress – namely six American features (fiction and documentary) in post-production – and the developing films of the Paris Coproduction Village. It will involve one-to-one meetings, conferences and workshops, but also networking moments, all in a convivial and festive spirit.
We thank again all our partners and, more specifically Sophie Dulac and her teams for their renewed confidence.

Presentation

The Paris Coproduction Village, development and financing platform for feature film projects selected worldwide, aims to encourage the professionals of the European film industry to invest in international coproductions.

Drawing on the success of its first three editions, the team of Les Arcs European Film Festival renew the organization of this event, now fully inserted in the French film professionals’s calendar.

Over three days, twelve international projects intended for French and European coproductions will be presented to the industry professionals. The six projects of the Cinefondation of the Cannes Film Festival are also part of the selection. Participants will enjoy one-on-one meetings, networking events, as well as seminars chaired by leaders of the film industry. Each year, we have the pleasure to welcome over 200 industry professionals for the event.
For the third year in a row, a country is honored during the Paris Coproduction Village : in 2017, we will celebrate the Taiwanese film industry, in partnership with the Taipei Film Commission. Three projects from the selection are from Taiwan and a conference on French-Taiwanese coproductions will be held in the attendance of key players of the industry.

The project selection will be announced on May the 22nd, during Cannes Film Festival. Professionals will be able to sign up online http://www.pariscopro.com to meet the representative of the projects of their choice during the three days of meetings.
