 Biography

In barely four years, The Pirouettes has become one of the major bands of French pop. In a French scene in perpetual excitement, Leo Bear Creek (also drummer of Coming Soon) and his lady Vickie Chérie (also illustrator of the album covers) are the Elli & Jacno of the 2010s. In this long tradition of synth pop, the juvenile couple, protected by Etienne Daho and captured by Hedi Slimane, has already a few hits to their emerging discography. Starting with Dernier Métro an unstoppable synthetic hit crossing with the memory of the timeless Marcia Baila.

A smile on their lips, Leo and Vickie compose and write ,with bluffing and unsettling ease, pop songs inspired by first loves, night parties and their Parisian everyday life. After the maxi L’Importance des Autres (2014) and the 45 Je nous vois/Soleil rare (2015), here comes the time for their first album Carrément carrément swinging between heady tunes (Carrément carrément, L’Escalier, Jouer le jeu) and disarming ballads (Amoureux, Au Bord de l’eau, Dans le vent d’été). Like a new generation of bands and artists from here, freed for tutelary figures of the past, The Pirouettes has its own term handled with humour and tenderness. Art or the Pirouette’s way of pop. Irresistible.
