Biography

Stéphane Brizé was born in Rennes (France) in 1966. He directed two short films before his first feature Le Bleu des villes, selected at Director’s Fortnight in 1999.

His second feature Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé received 3 nominations at the César Award in 2006 and a nomination at the European Film Awards. Followed by Entre adultes (2007) and Mademoiselle Chambon (2009) for which he received the Best Adaptation César and a nomination at the Independent Spirit Award.

A Few Hours of Spring (2012) was nominated 4 times at 2013 César and The Measure of a Man was selected in 2015 Cannes Film Festival’s Official Competition where its actor Vincent Lindon won the Best Actor award followed by the same award at the César. The adaptation of Maupassant’s novel, A Woman’s Life, was in Competition at Venise Film Festival in 2016 and received the prestigious Prix Louis Delluc the same year.

His latest film At War was released in 2018 after being selected in Cannes Film Festival’s Official Competition.
