Bestfriends Gloria and Ruby are bonded through gossip and potty humor. At a casual lunch they joke about a friend who believes in reincarnation and signs from the deceased, leading Ruby to promise that after she dies she will visit Gloria as a portapotty. After a quick departure from the lunch Ruby is suddenly struck by a bus and killed. Gloria is despondent in her grief until a portapotty is dropped off at a construction site across the street from her house. Cautiously believing this is Ruby, Gloria begins spending time with the porta potty/Ruby. One evening, when the construction workers have gone, Gloria goes to the portapotty with stark questions about what happens when you die. The portapotty welcomes her inside and Gloria enters a Busby Berkely dream where she experiences a state exaltation. As she comes back to reality, Gloria receives wisdom from one of the construction workers about the universality of her pain. Back at home Gloria begins to move out of her despondency, until she sees the portapotty being loaded onto a truck to be taken off the site. She chases after the truck carrying Ruby away, but she is too late. As she watches the truck pull away, Gloria is visited by a coyote. Is it a sign? Do those who pass really Say Hi After You Die?
