AFFICHE DEF 2023 (1)

“The spotlight is on independent cinema  from June 20th to 27th, on the most beautiful avenue in the world, with Champs-Élysées Film Festival!

In the 70s, there were 65 movie theatres on the Champs-Élysées. Today, there are only five left. One of the ambitions of this festival is the bring audiences back to these legendary venues to discover a bold cinema, to encounter major figures of cinema, to take part to movie premieres and masterclasses and to enjoy our incredible rooftop, exceptionally open during the festival. We also remain faithful to our icon, Marilyn Monroe, who has shone her magnetism, her intelligence and her modernity on the festival for over 10 years now.

As Eric Emmanuel Schmitt reminds us, “Why has cinema been invented? To persuade people that life has the shape of a story. To pretend that, amongst the disorded events we undergo, there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. Cinema replaces religions, puts order where there is chaos, introduces reason within the absurd.”

I wish you a very beautiful week of dreams and happiness.”

– Sophie Dulac, President of Chamos-Élysées Film Festival
