Dunk or Die looks back at the career of dunk prodigy Kadour Ziani, from his childhood on the playgrounds of Saint-Dizier to the greatest of NBA stadiums. Kadour’s parents were Algerians who came to France in the 1960s and he was the symbol of a generation that flirted with petty crime to make ends meet. His art provided him with a means of expression and he pushed his personal limits until he reached a state of physical and mental transcendence. This documentary brings together family photos, interviews, archives, and spectacular images of Slam Nation’s international tours to tell his inspirational and extraordinary story.

Nicolas de Virieu was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, in 1975. He started in high-level sports at PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) with a sports study program with future professionals such as soccer player Jérôme Leroy, and then turned to American football. For several years, he played with «Flash» (La Courneuve football team), for the French national team. At the same time, he discovered a passion for filming, starting out as a sports journalist in 1997 on AB Sport Channel. He started working as an independent in 2000, making around 40 documentaries for various channels (Canal+, MCM, MTV, l’Équipe...). He is currently preparing his first feature-length fiction, «Okanga», which tells the story of WWII through the plight of a young descendant of a Senegalese tirailleur.
