Latch-key siblings Ramona and Lenny grow apart as they come-of-age in 1989. While foraging mushrooms behind her house, Ramona discovers a lion’s paw print and senses a spiritual connection between them. Sometimes her devotion to nature is so strong she wonders whether she beholds a magic plane of existence. Mesmerized by its power, she seeks to understand the animal’s presence while her moody teen brother strangely aims to destroy it. Meanwhile, she randomly stumbles upon Lenny’s gay porn magazines and wonders where he's been sneaking off to lately. Longing for his companionship, she secretly pursues him into the woods where far from home they come face to face with the mountain lion.
Meryl Jones (they/them) is a filmmaker, sound artist, and actor. They came to filmmaking for its capacity to intermingle and complicate multiple self-expressions. Their work explores the intersection of queer longing, nature connectedness, and the inner-child -- as well as blurs the boundaries between narrative, experimental, documentary, and home video. They have directed three short films; Goldilocks, The Love Spell, and Dom with their creative soul sister and true blue friend Jane Stiles and are currently working on a debut feature film for which they will also star. Their work has screened at various festivals including Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Newfest, and online for The New Yorker Magazine and No Budge. They are a co-founder of Sweet Potato Productions, educator at Brooklyn-based analogue film-collective Mono No Aware.
