In the 1980s, Paris' business district, La Défense, is in full expansion. French president François Mitterand proudly launches the construction of the Defense’s Great Arch in honor of the French Revolution: “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.” At the same time, under one of the Défense’s towers, the Pacific Club opens. It is the first night club to welcome young Arab boys and girls from the suburbs. For a decade, they danced under the glass and steel towers. They represent the first generation of sons and daughters of immigrants that was quickly confronted to racism, the AIDS epidemic, and heroin. Guided by the voice of Azedine, who was 18 years old in 1983, the film sheds light on the segragation of Parisian nightlife, blending archives and wandering images. Pacific Club bears witness to these forgotten and hidden places where immigrants, lived, danced, and fell in love.
