Synopsis
In the near future, every household has a domestic android, called “techno-sapiens”. In Jake’s family, his name is Yang, and he watches over the young Mika in particular, acting as a tutor, friend and confidant for this little adopted girl of Chinese origin. So, the day Yang breaks down, Jake puts his whole life on hold to try to fix him. But the journey will prove to be much more complicated than expected, and will bring Jake to deal with dizzying existential and personal questions.
Kogonada
Kogonada is an American filmmaker of South Korean origin. He is known for creating critical video essays about cinema. Columbus, his first feature film directed with John Cho and Haley Lu Richarson, screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. In 2021, he wrote and directed After Yang, starring Colin Farrell. The film was presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at the Cannes Film Festival.
