In the heart of the 1970s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans, Gru is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a famous group of super villains, known as the Vicious 6, he hatches a plan to join them. He is assisted by the Minions, his rambunctious and loyal little companions. With Kevin, Stuart, Bob and Otto –a new Minion with beautiful braces and a desperate need to please– they work together to build their first lair, test their first weapons, and pull off their first mission. When the Vicious 6 dismiss their leader, the legendary Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to join the team. It does not go well, to say the least...
With the voices of Gad Elmaleh, Jonathan Cohen, Bastian Baker, Claudia Tagbo, Pierre Coffin
Steered by the creators of the franchise, Minions: The Rise of Gru is produced by visionary creator and Illumination President Chris Meledandri, along with longtime collaborators Janet Healey and Chris Renaud. The film was directed by Kyle Balda, who previously directed Despicable Me 3 and Minions, and co-directed by Brad Ableson (The Simpsons) and Jonathan del Val (The Secret Life of Pets 1 and 2). It features the now-cult voice of Pierre Coffin as the Minions, and a 70s soundtrack courtesy of legendary Grammy-winning music legend Jack Antonoff.
