(LA)HORDE

À la direction du CCN Ballet national de Marseille depuis 2019, (LA)HORDE réunit depuis 2013 les artistes Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer et Arthur Harel. À travers des films et performances (Novaciéries (2015), Cloud Chasers (2016), The Master’s Tools (2017), Cultes (2019), Room With A View (2020), Ghosts (2021)), des pièces chorégraphiques (Night Owl, (2016), To Da Bone (2017), Marry Me in Bassiani (2019), Room With A View (2020)), (LA)HORDE interroge la portée politique de la danse et cartographie les formes chorégraphiques de soulèvement populaire, qu’elles soient massives ou isolées, des raves aux danses traditionnelles en passant par le jumpstyle. Leur exploration des nouvelles dynamiques de circulation et de représentation de la danse et du corps qui se développent en ligne les amène notamment à former le concept de « danses post-internet ». En diversifiant les supports, (LA)HORDE interroge la sérendipité quasi infinie qu’offre ce nouveau territoire et propose des regards multiples sur les révoltes que portent ces communautés avec lesquelles le collectif travaille de façon hétérarchique. Créée avec l’artiste Rone, Room With A View est leur première pièce chorégraphique avec le Ballet national de Marseille, aujourd’hui composé de vingt-sept danseur•euse•s de seize nationalités. L’année suivante, iels invitent quatre chorégraphes pour un programme mixte : Lucinda Childs, Tânia Carvalho, Lasseindra Ninja et Oona Doherty, chacune incarnant une écriture chorégraphique emblématique, inclusive et engagée. En 2022, iels présentent Roommates, un programme de six pièces courtes connectant hyperréalisme et minimalisme signées Lucinda Childs, Claude Brumachon et Benjamin Lamarche, Peeping Tom, Cecilia Bengolea et François Chaignaud, (LA)HORDE, ainsi qu’une grande exposition dansée, We Should Have Never Walked on the Moon mêlant le registre de la comédie musicale et du cinéma d’action avec celui de l’avant-garde chorégraphique. En 2023, iels présentent leur nouvelle pièce chorégraphique avec le Ballet national de Marseille, Age of Content. En parallèle, iels collaborent avec des artistes reconnus tels que Madonna et Sam Smith en tant que Creative Director of Choreography et avec des maisons telles que Burberry et Hermès.

Founded in 2013 and at the head of Marseille’s National Ballet since 2019, (LA)HORDE is made up of artists Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel. Through films and performances (Novaciéries (2015), Cloud Chasers (2016), The Master’s Tools (2017), Cultes (2019), Room With A View (2020), Ghosts (2021)), and choreographic works (Night Owl, (2016), To Da Bone (2017), Marry Me in Bassiani (2019), Room With A View (2020)) (LA)HORDE questions the political reach of dancing and maps out the choreographic forms of popular uprising, whether they be massive or isolated, from raves to traditional dances, and jumpstyle. Their exploration of new dynamics of circulation and representation of dance and body developing online notably led them to the concept of “post-internet dances”. By diversifying media, (LA)HORDE questions the quasi-infinite serendipity that this new territory offers, and multiplies the outlooks on revolts that these communities carry, and with whom the collective works in a heterarchical way. Created with the artist Rone, Room With A View is their first choreographic work with Marseille’s National Ballet, which is made up today of twenty seven dancers from sixteen different countries. The following year, they invited four choreographers for a mixed programme: Lucinda Childs, Tânia Carvalho, Lasseindra Ninja and Oona Doherty, each incarnating an emblematic choreographic writing, inclusive and militant. In 2022, they presented Roomates, a programme of six short works that connect hyperrealism and minimalism directed by Lucinda Childs, Claude Brumachon and Benjamin Lamarche, Peeping Tom, Cecilia Bengolea, François Chaignaud, (LA)HORDE. Alongside it, an important danced exhibition, We Should Have Never Walked on the Moon, that blends musical and action film genres with choreographic avant-garde. In 2023, they presented their new choreographic work with Marseille’s National Ballet, Age of Content. In parallel, they collaborated with renowned artists such as Madonna and Sam Smith as Creative Director of Choreography and with fashion houses such as Burberry and Hermès.
