Curtis began his career working at the Royal Court Theatre in London. He then directed several television dramas for the BBC, among which David Copperfield with Daniel Radcliffe and Maggie Smith.
In 2004, Curtis starts to interest himself in Colin Clark’s memoires about Marilyn Monroe. Shot in 2010, My Week with Marilyn is a succes and Michelle Williams wins the Golden Globe for her performance. Woman in Gold is his second feature film.
